When I think about what it takes to make something happen at the Center, I can only say, it takes a team. If we relied on just me, that would be an interesting situation, to say the least. We have an amazing team here, all with people I love, who are passionate about what we do. Because we all love working together, work isn’t really work. Meetings are enjoyable and onsites, where the instructors get to hang out together, are really fun! Our evenings are spent giggling and eating yummy food (Thai food is a favorite), interspersed with earnest conversations about what we want to create together the next day for our students and participants. We are lucky! And we all know it.

We know it for two reasons…one is because we’ve all spent many years in other situations, where it wasn’t fun; it was work. And, the other reason is, we also know how hard we have worked behind the scenes to reach this point. We’ve stormed with each other, as all teams do. We’ve struggled with what we want our culture to be, processed countless challenging situations, and helped each other with personal problems that have nothing to do with our time together. And over the many years, about 10 now with this team, we’ve built trust with one another. We know how the other people will show up. We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses and we don’t expect perfection. We know how much we all believe in a shared vision, shared culture and shared passion for what we do, and we know that each person in our little team has our back if we need it. 

Our team didn’t just happen. We had horses to help us figure ourselves and each other out. We have had so much helpful feedback from the people who have gone through our programs, and we’ve had a ton of encouragement for each person’s  unique voice. I wish more of the world had work places like we have. I hold a vision that more and more spaces can contain the kind of love and respect we have for each other in our team. And I hope you can find that for yourself, wherever you are.
