As student coordinator, I have the pleasure of connecting with people from all over the world who are curious to learn more about the Equus Coach® Training program. During these free consultation calls, questions are answered, logistics clarified, and often a vision is shared about how this transformative work might take shape in the prospective student’s life should they say yes to the training. These moments are among my favorites as I listen with excitement, fully aware of the profound impact that’s possible when dreams like these become reality.
While I’d love to capture the essence of these exchanges and share it here, I can offer a glimpse into the conversations by answering some of the most commonly asked inquiries I receive.
What does the program entail? The Equus Coach® Training program is a 13-month training made up of 32 interactive Zoom classes and three four-day onsites. Each year there are two opportunities to begin the training, one in the spring and one in the fall. The onsites for the spring program are held in Paso Robles, CA; the fall program are held in Scottsdale, AZ. Regarding the classes, these Zoom calls occur weekly until the first onsite, roughly 10 weeks into the training. After that, classes are once every two weeks.
What makes the Equus Coaching program unique? The Equus Coaching Training, at its core, is relational. It provides an invitation to explore the relationship to self, to others, and to the world around us — all while being present with a horse. Under the guidance of our highly-qualified instructor team, student coaches receive the education and support needed to
navigate this exploration for themselves so that they can offer this container of discovery to future clients.
What can I do with an Equus Coach® Certification?
Equus Coaches have a range of options to consider upon completing the program. Some will integrate their learning into an already established coaching or therapy practice. Others may be entering the coaching world for the first time, poised to take the wisdom gained in a previous
profession and reimagine it into something new. Others still are complete in having participated in a transformative personal development experience. There is no right answer and not everyone knows exactly how they will use their learning at the beginning of the training – and that’s alright. The training itself helps inform a path forward.
Can I become certified through ICF after completing the Equus Coach® Training program?
The program is currently in the process of applying for accreditation from the ICF. Those who wish to become ICF certified will have the education hours, mentoring hours, and recording(s) needed to apply to ICF directly. It’s important to note that ICF is a separate credentialing organization.
The decision to apply or not apply to ICF does not impact certification as an Equus Coach® through the Center for Equus Coaching.
